Supreme Prom Court Hearing

One girl(her name will not be given for her sake) decided to ask me to vote for her in the prom court elections.
Yet, I cannot simply approve a candidate without knowing some things first, especially with something as important as porm prom.

The following is the transcript from that hearing. Some spelling has not been corrected to maintain the accuracy of what was stated.

Adam: can i ask you some questions
Prom Court Member Candidate(PCMC): suure
PCMC: go for it
Adam: what qualifies you to be on my prom court?
PCMC: hmm.. well... I really care about ym grades.. even if they dont always reflect it... umm i know what i want for college.... i plan on succeeding.. and i try to stay involved in school
Adam: ok
Adam: why do you want to be on my prom court
Adam: ?
PCMC: because... u know its like eveyr girls thing u know to want ot be on court.. u know actually be recognized.. i was really shy in grade scool.. nice ot be recognized.. and I feel that im a good role model
Adam: what do you think you will gain from it?
PCMC: i feel it would be a good experience in itself to spend time wiht people i wouldnt normallsy spend time with.. and to be recognized a lil more
Adam: recognized for what?
PCMC: like recognized in general ( like people know who i am) and also as a role model.. like u know well ur not a girl so i dunno but wheni was a frosh liek the court u know kinda looked up to them wish i could be par of that
PCMC: but u know
PCMC: like with the way i was.. like.. i alwasys viewd prom as a popularity contest
PCMC: and based off that
PCMC: i wouldnt get on...
PCMC: so just kinda want it
Adam: say if you agree or disagree with this statement then say why: Prom court is a superficial popularity contest that actually doesn't mean anything at all but used by the popular to make the equally as worthy but less accepted feel less accepted more.
PCMC: dont completely agree
PCMC: some truth behind it tho.. i do believe people vote by who they think should be on it.. whether they know them or not
PCMC: like homecoming i voterd JP on court i didnt really know him
PCMC: but like i feel the crowd all voted the same
PCMC: well some
Adam: i don't think you answered the question
PCMC: haha umm
PCMC: yes i think its popularity contest
PCMC: no> becaus ei think there is mroe meaning to it then popularity
Adam: what is the other meaning that you refer to?
PCMC: hmm just liek hah this gay... umm every like girls "dream" or whatever.. and gives a role model
Adam: ok, now explain the value you place on popularity
PCMC: on me being popular?
Adam: i ask the questions
PCMC: haha
PCMC: ok umm
PCMC: i dont personally care about being popular.. but idont wanna be a shy person no one know.. and i dont want to be like kdisliked or hated.. i enoy people liking me
Adam: you say that you consider yourself a good role model and yet you admittedly participate in illegal activity
PCMC: ... say wha?
Adam: how are these not conflicting statements
PCMC: umm i have drank underage i wont lie
PCMC: but ive never
PCMC: like
PCMC: benn durnk tipsy
PCMC: or even had a full glass
PCMC: ive maybe drank 4 times
PCMC: 3 of those with family
Adam: the law dosent differenciate
PCMC: for weddings
PCMC: and things
PCMC: 1 time had red wine with my cousin
PCMC: never even had a full glass
PCMC: so
PCMC: im just saying i wont deny that ive done it
Adam: and how does that fit in with you being a role model?
PCMC: umm i dont respect people who drink and get drunk and stuf.. i dont do drugs... and i only drink ( excluding 1 time) with family permission
PCMC: i dont have sex
PCMC: i focus on school
PCMC: i dont let everything material takeover... idunno i have life goals
PCMC: that i plan to reach an succeed
Adam: you say that you don't focus on material and yet you seem to really want to be on prom court, explain this
P: i want tobe on prom court, to be better recognized.. and have a special memory, and maybe be a role model to like people not that popular such as myself
Adam: I think the fact that you drink would have been the best qualifying criteria for appointing you to the supreme prom court but you say it was only four times and only with family(still illegal in most cases)
PCMC: u want me 2 drink
PCMC: ...
Adam: let the record show that 2 min. Elapsed with out a response from the candidate

The candidate then signed off just when I was about to ask for her closing statements.

Personally I feel she did poorly.

That was AMAZING! Adam, I truly admire your journalism skills, that was awesome. You somehow managed to ask the rights questions at the right times that made her change her stories constantly. There were so many contradictions in that, I still dont know where she stands. She went from saying that she has honestly never drank underage, to saying ok, 4 times. You are right, in any circumstance, if you are not 21 and you drink alcohol, its underage drinking and illegal. You absolutely stuck it to her, and I gather from this that she is a junior, and looking at who that could possibly be that you talked to, I must say it doesnt surprise me the things she said. Nice wording by the way. and I liked your witty "I'll ask the questions here", that was classic. I give the interview two scores. 5 star for the interviewer. No, sorry, I lied, one score only, the interviewee doesnt even deserve a score...

All in all, great post.
