What he deserved

What the fuck is this???

Shown above is the CNN.com mainpage from early saturday December 30. CNN deserves to be smacked in the face for making Saddam Hussein look like a normal human being who deserves to be commemorated. People tend to forget that Saddam was an evil man who lived an evil life, and should not be seen otherwise. We forget that he killed human beings by the hundreds. We forget that he had hundreds of Kurds murdered with chemical weapons. I ask: Was he merciful to them? Did he give them a chance? No. He did not. Saddam got what he deserved- the end of a noose. I know that, in a Catholic school, I am taught to be infinitely forgiving. But I’m no saint but even if I was people have to realize that there is justice in this world. Given the chance, I would have opened the trap door and not felt bad. In fact, I would have felt like I was doing the world a favor.

Making Saddam look like a normal man who lived a normal life is spitting on the bodies of those he killed. Shame on you CNN.

I like Time’s approach:

Saddam got what he deserved.

Issues concerning Christmas and Santa Claus that must be addressed before Christmas can commence properly.

This, being the fourth and final Sunday in Advent, beings up a few questions and topics about the upcoming holiday.

1) What’s the deal with all this coal. Santa just has all this extra coal lying around to give to bad kids?

2) Does Santa have coal or is it some how created by magic. Or is the North Pole a huge coal mine (the would explain what they do in the off season). If so, It would make sense to use what is commonly called an elf.

3) Did you really mean elf? Because in science fiction elves are actually taller creatures who are immortal and a decent warriors. The can however be killed in battle. I think what they meant to say was dwarves. This would be consistent with the coal mine theory because dwarves live underground and in mountains, even in mines. Although, Santa would have to be one hell of a bad ass to get dwarves to work for him 24/7 for no pay.

4) This leads us to ask: What do dwarves have to gain by working for Santa? Is it just the fact that they have no where else to go? Man took over middle earth and the high elves left for the undying lands and dwarves were left as exiles as man began to conquer all of earth and Santa took them in exchange for work.

5) But back to the coal: It’s a source of energy. So, perhaps it is just what evil kids want. With a sack of coal you could probably power a small doomsday device. Perhaps if you are really bad you will receive Plutonium. Wouldn’t that be nice? Maybe we could convince Santa to bring us petroleum to power our cars. I don’t’ know why he’s stuck on coal, it may have just been an old world thing that stuck with the story.

It won’t be a merry Christmas until these questions are answered.

The holidays are always thought of as a good time, for me anyways. I never really understood why people would get so upset around these times. And the reason for that was because I always had the people I needed around me.

I used to always have those people...or person...around. Now I don't. Ah, zis is why the holidays can be depressing. I never knew.

I have more than anyone should. That I already know. But sometimes, when its the holidays and you have time to think, all that you have can't occupy your mind. Sometimes, most of the time, its the one thing you don't have that fills up your thought process. The one thing. Or, in my case, the one person. Why is it, that a life filled with so much stuff, and so many amazing people, can fall short for a split second because of lacking one person in the past not being in the present?

When we live in a world where you can basically control everything in your life, it is so hard to swallow that some things are really just out of our reach. That there isn't always a solution to the problem. That we can't save someone. That in the end, we may never find out why this person had to die, or this other person had to leave. Sometimes the only thing we know is that we don't know.

AHHHHHHONEYEAR

For the one of our two readers that has been paying attention it’s been exactly one year since the two of us have made our first posts.

We’ve been a lot of places before hitting the web.

The first recorded appearance of Bethadam was back in 1776 at the signing of the Declaration of Independence. As you can clearly see in the photos below(our faces have been blurred out to preserve our anonymity) we were obviously there. There we met ol’ Benny Franklin.

Then it was off to the antebellum era were we first met our homeboy Honest Abe(we knew him before he was President) and we still maintain that Abe never failed, any apparent failure was simply part of his plan to end slavery.

It’s been a long time since then.

But now on to something relevant…

... um, right… yeah… well making the step to the intertubes(the internet is not a truck that you dump things in it is a series of tubes) was big for Bethadam.

We’ve explored so many things and have been such an important force in the world.

Here are the top ten things that you should now openly accept thanks to us:

1) School and school competition sucks balls.
2) Babies are now exceedingly more fashionable.

3) The take a penny leave a penny system is un-American.
4) Girls are crazy and guys are stupid.
5) Adam is not crazy, he’s just Abraham Lincoln.
6) VD sucks.
7) It is a good thing the North Koreans have Nukes because there are way to fucking many people.
8) Our nation’s birthday is the best thing ever.
9) God wants you to play violent video games (we heard it ourselves-straight from Jesus)
10) Wal-mart is fucking insane.

There are probably many more but you already know what they are so we don’t really need to tell you.

This leaves us to question where this source of awesome will go from here. Will we continue to post stuff, or will we become too busy and decide that we don’t care/move on to better things. The four of us can probably hope for the former.

Regardless, we thank you for sticking the year out with us and apologize in advance for this coming year.

Bethadam

P.S. You don’t have to give us presents for our 1 year, but you should.

So much for inspiring metaphors

It died. It finally died.

About a month or so ago ( I don’t remember exactly how long because the time goes by in such a way that large amounts become hard to quantify) a cocoon formed on the side of our garage. Helpless it sat just inches away from a large spider web and it’s equally large owner just around the corner.

But weeks went by and it seemed that the cocoon had outlasted the spider because the spider was nowhere to be found but that feeble cocoon remained.

I could have killed the spider to protect the cocoon but nature took its course and our fragile friend won out.

More time passed and the cocoon remained. It got cold. The cocoon remained. It became too cold for too long, I thought, for a cocoon to survive. It’s dead, I knew it was dead. I couldn’t let such an interesting artifact go to waste. I’ll pop it off this wall and keep it somewhere I thought for a second.

But then there was a large part of me that wished it was still alive but there was a small part of me that thought it still was.

So I left it.

More time. More cold. No signs of life.

Then one day I came home to find the cocoon on the ground below where it usually hung. As I approached I thought: It’s dead now, I know its dead now.

When I examined it more closely the cocoon was half open and I could see the head of the butterfly and just a small fleck of the orange wing.

As I went to pick it up to get a closer look, it moved. Still alive? Imposable, but true. Nature had taken its course and the butterfly had survived until now. All that was left was for it to struggle out of its cocoon and fly away.

The days only got colder.

Each day I would kneel down to see the struggle continue.

Its life was inspiring. It was one of those lessons that God would figure everything else and that nature takes it course. I never interfered, although I often wanted to.

Today it is dead.

Ode to the 90's

Ok, so I wish I could be one of those people who are cool and don't love facebook, but I'm not. That is right, when I turn my laptop on to start my homework when I get home afterschool, I go to the stupid facebook and look at stuff. I do not know why it interests me so much but it does. Anywho, there was this group I joined that is called : If you grew up in the 90's. I loved it so much I copy/pasted it here. If anyone enjoyed their childhood in the 90's, they'll probably like this. Or maybe I'm just weird.

"Just wanted to remind people of the good ole days. You're a 90's kid if:
You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!"
You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air"

Today a stupid comment was said to me in passing that I can't stop dwelling on. Just a few words and my mind can't stop thinking about it. The thing is, these words said by a friend questioned something that is important to me. That person doesn't know what they are talking about, yet a few choice words and I doubt everything that I thought before. Why do other people's opinions matter so much to any of us? It's amazing how much time and energy we spend thinking about what other people are thinking about us. It's this uncomfortable feeling that we are so used to, we become comfortable with it and we let ourselves believe that it's okay to feel that way. I say screw it

Battle of the Sexes

It always kind of entertains me how different guys and girls are. And how we are so adorably clueless when it comes to trying to figure each other out...just in general. Girls are just crazy, if you ask me. We obsess about things so much and then we have talk about it, ya know, the only reason we bother learning another language is so that we can repeat everything we said over again but sound like we're finally changing the subject. And guys, well from what I've learned about them, are pretty simple. I mean, yea they have all the same emotions as us rollercoaster girls, but since society puts so much pressure on them to act all tough they don't, or just won't show their "feelings" as much. Which makes them hard to read, and when something is hard to read, it make a girl think. And when a girl starts to think, she starts to talk, and as I said above, when a girl starts talking she usually can't stop. An excellent example of this would be the blog that I am typing right this second. I am a girl and I just can't seem to stop talking about how different guys and girls are even though I think I've made most of my point. My point is that I think girls are crazy, I think guys are confusing and I think we'll never fully understand each other ever. And I think I like it that way.

World issues

The US population just reached 300,000,000 people. To me this is a cause for concern simply because that is way too many fucking people.

You might recall a certain country having a nuke test in the recent past. You also might remember that this country tested a ICBM that failed miserably. The country that I am talking about, of course, is North Korea.

I would like to first say that I am looking forward to the impending showdown with North Korea because I played the video game and it makes me feel involved. Yes, “Mercenaries,” a game created by Lucas Arts is about a crazy North Korean military dictator who has nuclear weapons. A war breaks out and a bunch of really cool things happen. China rushes in to fight and gain territory, the South Koreans get the shit blasted out of them and the Russian mafia moves in and does really cool mafia things.

I should probablly tell you that should this war break out there’s nothing to worry about. I beat the game and it turns out that we end up destroying the crazy dictator’s nukes and, if you’re me, taking him down alive for a cool 100 million.

But the point is that having a population of 300,000,000 people is pretty much an open invitation for the North Koreans to nuke us on the grounds that we have way to many fucking people.

Homecoming apparel guide

Homecoming is just around the corner for some and probably over for most others. But I figured that I’d give our two readers some advice on how dress for the big dance.

Adam’s guide to male homecoming apparel:

1) Never wear khakis. Pants should be black, gray, maybe brown, perhaps with a pattern. Black is your best bet. Exception: If you have an entire khakis suit then it is ok.

2) Have at least one piece of jackass wear: Nothing says fuck you better then a loud tie or pinstripe pants.

3) Pinstripes: Feed your mobster fetish. Pinstripes are the most stylish of the patterns. Make use of them.

4) Accent your striking features: If you have beautiful blue eyes, wear a tie that matches. It dose not have to be the tie. It could be your shirt. Also if you have a nice ass make sure your pants accent that.

5) Avoid monochromes: The black tie black shirt bit sounds cool in theory but it actually just reminds people of Green Day. Exception: Monochromes are generally acceptable if they are from the waste up. Like, if your shirt and your tie are the same color. In this case it might help if the tie has a pattern or is textured.

6) Have a good belt and shoes, this is a given. No woven belts.

7) Don’t be afraid do speak your own sense of style to a certain extent. If something speaks to you as totally awesome, wear it, but don’t talk about how cool you think it is while you wear it.

Adam’s guide to female homecoming apparel:

1) Wear a dress if you have to.

Let's Talk About Love, Part Deux

Lately, in my life, everything has been about timing. In some cases, incredibly good timing, and yet in other cases, suchs as relationships, inexplicably bad timing. It is insane how God works.

Heres the thing, they say when you meet "the one" that you will just know you are meant to be with that person. Now, I ain't talking about "the one" because I am 17 years old and I don't want to get married for at least 12 more years (I have a lot of shit to do before I want to put up with someone else's shit for all eternity). I'm talking about...the one person you are supposed to be with at the present time. Basically any guys I would date now is just preparing me for the one unfortunate fella that chooses to marry me. What if these present relationships teach you something so crucial they influence you on choosing your future spouse? And what if you have bad judgement now and choose the wrong relationship? I've heard it said that what we do now will reap our benefits later, it seems natural that that statement applies with relationships too. What if a girl is constantly choosing the wrong guy over and over again? Will she learn or will history repeat? It is all so unimportant when a senior girl has college, grades, activities, parents, cars, and jobs to worry about right now, add in relationship troubles and you got a break down. Why can't we just know who we are meant to be with right now?

So heres a question....

On an episode of Sex and the City (now you know it'll be a good post if I begin it like this) Carrie was saying how she heard a quote saying "A life unexamined is not a life worth living." However, as many other girls can agree, sometimes we spend too much energy examining a situation that we do taking action and fixing it. A girl's life consists of a million questions:
"Does he like me?" "How do I look?" "What will he do next?" "Did I just fail that test?" "What does she have that I don't?" "Did I really just say that?" Are we in any way, shape, or form helping our situation or are we just procrastinating with style? I've heard the phrase "Answers only make more questions." Maybe its time we stop asking all these questions..."Will I get that score on the ACT?" "Will I have enough money?" "Will I get a scholarship?" "Will I ever get over him/her/this?" "What will I do with my life?" Maybe it's time to go forget about the unanswered questions, the false statements, the harsh remarks, and just be. Somehow, I think, the answers will unfold without you even asking them to.

Back up off

Recently, people have been getting down on my main man, and I just can’t stand for it. Seriously, what did Abraham Lincoln ever do to you? We watched this video in theology where Tom Osborne uses my man Abe as an example of preference saying that even though he failed a lot at first before he eventually began to succeed.

This is inherently false. Everyone of Abe’s “failures” were simply a part of her ultimate success and therefore not failures at all. So stop saying that is an example of Abe perseverance. If anything he is a prime example of a whirlwind ride straight to the top.

Also, perseverance in itself it crap. If you didn’t fail in the first place then perseverance would never be necessary. They say if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. But I say, if at first you don’t succeed, what the hell is wrong with you.

This is not to say that, should you fail at something, you shouldn’t try again. It is simply to say that you should do so in great disgrace.

School is overtaking my life right now it is yet just September. I was apparently stoned last year when I decided to take as many AP classes I could think of. Mostly I just signed up for them because it will impress the balding college admissions person, however I hate to admit I'm glad I took them. Extremely challenging for me as they are, yeah, they're hard, I'm learning something, and I did not make my madre pay $6,000 so I could take mediocre classes that doesn't allow me to use my full brain power. Not that I have alot. My attention span is making me think I don't. I have a point, I think.

Well anywho, as I said school is taking over, so school I shall write about. In religion we skimmed over the topic of gay marriages. In a hand out we had to read and were quizzed over, there were some interesting topics, some saying that "Marriage is best kept in the traditional sense." If we kept all the traditions of marriage, the status of women in our world would be non existent, we would have rags full of blood to prove a girls virginity, another wonderful tradition that has been thankfully dropped in our society. Also, in another article we had to read, it says "...against God's plan for marriage, marriage is holy, while homosexual acts go against moral law." I agree with two of the three statements. Marriage is very holy, and its true that homosexual acts go against the stupid natural law, however my take on God's plan for marriage is to find love, create a family. You can do that through gay marriages. Then theres the whole should gay couples adopt...I'd say if the kids facing being an orphan or having a home with gay people, I'd choose the home. Also, is gay marriages undermining the sanctity of marriage more than divorce? "Divorce-not same sex marriage- is the No. 1 enemy of marriage." Another quote from the articles.

Basically I think if you love a person, marry em for pete's sake. Don't governments have murders or poverty or scandals in the White House to deal with? The gay people aren't harming anyone, go find a terrorist.

This year...meaning Last year but this year then

What we've found
Where we've been
We found in each other
What we've wanted within

A light in the soul
A fire that burns
We discovered a wisdom
In each other we learned

Our laughter became our medicine
Heals our tired hearts
Our tears let down our shields
Where our trust began to start

Time became our enemy
A fight we could never win
For time slows for no one
Neither pure nor full of sin

No friend is ever let go
When their hearts are forever here
You can feel love continue to grow
With the memory of this year.

Thursday, August 24, 2006

Listen I don't know much. I've met people I thought I could never lived without, til I found that they wanted to live without me. We threw around the term 'friends forever' because we really thought we would be. What we knew, what we've been through up til then felt like we could take on the world. The world took us on, and forever came too soon. When a friendship so strong could break so easily, I figured nothing else would last either. Til I met people who never promised forever, just reassured right now. And I found out, that when I forgot about the future, the present seemed more sweet. Living in the moments made the feeling of true friendship last forever.

Reaching out to youth

Today in theology class we were given a servey that asked us a number of personal questions one of them being, “Will you ever get married, why or why not?” To which I answered something along the lines of “If I find the right person” (but that’s more then you ever wanted to know about me). This was followed by, “Do you want to have kids, why or why not?”

Now, my answer to this question is yes, given I find the right person, and so forth. Again, that’s more then you care to know about me. What I struggled with was the why or why not part. I really don’t know why I would like to have kids.

It seems that it’s just natural for most people to want children. Then again there are a lot of people who don’t want to have kids. The decision is usually left up to the individual without any mental manipulation in play.

I know that we have plenty of babies in the world but there are some babies that I’ve talked to who feel that it would be good to increase their membership. Organized babies, up until now, have left enrollment up to chance. I mean, there has never been a “get out the birth” campaign, so to speak.

However, organized babies came to me recently and asked me to help them with an ad campaign and slogan that might help out baby popularity world wide. Being the acclaimed public relations guru I am, I couldn’t turn down such a challenge.

After much brain storming, I think I finally have something for babies that is going to send their numbers through the roof, and I want to share a sampling with both of our readers. So here it is.

I guess I'll keep working on it.

For What Its Worth

I gained some new perspective about life in general whilst I was away from Nebraska. At pom camp I learned that delerium brings genius ideas, at Florida, I learned that only with your best friends can you have fun in the hurricane inspired weather, and in Myrtle Beach I learned the importance of family can only be discovered once you appreciate each person for what they are worth.

At dance camp, I'll call it dance camp because it is more dance than pom, plus pom looks like porn and I have had many a few excited male friends crack jokes already. Right, well at the four day dance camp I was at, I believe I got a grand total of 15 hours of sleep. Not too bad, but lack of sleep causes increase of crazyness. Which brings me to believe that you have to be out of your mind to do anything great. Theres this theory that if your mind can concieve it you can achieve it or something crappy like that, but all of us dancers were out of our minds, therefore to lose your mind, your insecurities, your doubts, your better judgement, may lead you to some suprising outcomes. However, one must lose our mind in small proportions, for instace, I was nominated for all American (big deal thingy at dance camp) but I lost my mind and forgot the dance I was supposed to perform, therefore I failed. Fiddle sticks.

After dance camp, I drove from somewhere to some airport, I am not entirely sure I passed out in the car, and flew to Florida with the band and choir. Our dear Adam, whos last post about peeing slightly disturbed me, but none the less made me laugh, was there. The choirband set out to take over Disney World but was severely disappointed when we almost got rained out of every single park there. But most of us realized, that while we are somewhat spoiled (we go to a private school for crying out loud) we might not be able to come back to Disney World again and we had to make the best of it. Even if we were wearing skimpy tanktops that were probably see-through.

I came to Omaha to say aloha to my amigos only to leave for Myrtle Beach. Driving there. With my family. 27 hours in a car. Wasn't so bad. I got there and was greeted by my 24 cousins, 5 aunts, 5 uncles, 1 grandparent. Last summer my grandpa died of a rare disease, and this summer we wanted to have the family together. I just wanted to be home with my friends, because I've been gone so long. But once I realized why my being there, and why everyone had to be there, was so important, I didn't want to leave. We're all getting older, and getting everyone in the same place is getting harder. Even with my friends too, resposibilities and the reality of what the 'real' world is like is coming down on us hard, suddenly I have to make an effort to be with the people I love so much, but perhaps didn't appreciate as much as I should. Afterall, the world is an awful, ugly place without the people who somehow make it beautiful.
We, the human race in general, aren't meant to go on alone. So thats why every moment together has to be cherished. Not saying that I'm going to make everyone who I'm around at the moment bow their heads and appreciate our togetherness. That would be weird. But maybe, when I'm around the weirdos I call my family, or the idiots I call my friends, I'll start laughing for no reason, remembering some inside joke, and understand why I'm a weirdo and an idiot. Because we're together. And thats worth anything.

There you go, I couldn't travel to a far and distant land and come back without something philosophical to say, now could I?

Until we speak again,

Happy next Independence day

I would like to extend warm Other Side of the Coin Happy 4th of July to all two of our avid fans, especially all of our readers in Canada.

Let me just say that I think that the 4th of July, or Independence day as it is formally known, is by far the best holiday of all(yes, even better than Christmas) because it was made right here in the good ol’ U.S of A.

Today, not only do we celebrate our Independence from the red coat Saxton dogs across the pond, we also celebrate everything that is American and we spend the day being only American. You know, because some days we’re French (we don’t shave our bodies, we’re dicks to everyone and we lose at everything except, of course, the World Cup). Some days we’re German (we drink, drive fast and we drink). Some times we’re Irish (we drink). And other times we’re *insert nationality here* (we *insert stereo type about aforementioned nationality*). But Americans take the best from all of those: we’re dicks to everyone while we drink and drive fast as well as some other things that are American.

To celebrate, I set out to do things that are purely American. Not only did I steal two American flags but I also ate a base ball, watched an apple pie and listened to the Jimi Hendrix version of the Star Spangled Banner. Yet, as I sit here at around 6:00 p.m. I have not yet blown any shit up and that pisses me off because if there is one thing that is uniquely American it is the desire to blow shit up on a massive scale at whim.

Also, this day, I think it is important to celebrate personal independence. For instance, there was a fly buzzing around my legs all day and it was annoying the shit out of me. So I promptly declared my independence from the fly then and when it didn’t leave I swatted it with my right flip flop picked it up with my bare hands and threw it into the toilet. I then proceeded to triumphantly piss on the fly before I flushed it down.

This Independence Day is strangely significant because it brings to light some revolutionary feelings inside myself. Let me take you back a few hours to this morning. I was awoken my shoes being thrown at my face and the sound of giddy laughter coming from my mother, who was sitting in a chair across from my couch throwing shoes at my face and laughing. Then she had the nerve to get mad when I chucked a shoe back (being half asleep it went wide right). Her action was an unprovoked act of war whereas mine was a measured response to an outright attack.

This all made me think that next Independence day when I will truly be celebrating my personal independence and isn’t that a great feeling because the thing that is truly American is the ability to do what ever the fuck you want and, you know, I’ve got that feeling.

Have a happy safe Independence day and, for all of you in the same place as me, raise the nearest beverage to only one more year of tyranny.

I’m off to blow shit up,
Adam

Just so you know

Thank youuuu Adam. Erm right well yes I have pictures.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I am leaving for pom camp tomorrow, then its off to Florida for a choir trip, back to Nebraska for about 28 hours, then to Myrtle beach for a family reunion in North Carolina, even though none of my family lives there. Therefore, I will not be in the right state of mind to update until sometime in July. Not that I am in the right state of mind at any point in time in my life, but I shall be away. So, all of my loyal fans, from um...the...welll all two of you who read this...I will return! But it'll be a while :( If you miss me just ask Adam for my picture, he is carrying it in his wallet.

Not that anyone would miss me.

...Or would you?

Just so everyone knows

I got Beth's picture in the mail today. It was one of those photo representative deals where the senior picture companies send pictures of girls to the guys so that they will want to get their pictures taken from said companies. So, just so everyone knows I've got a hot picture of Beth. If you want to see it just ask. Also when I get my senior pictures I'm totally getting the same pose that she's doing in the picture because I want to look that awesome.

Twice upon a Wal-Mart Dreary

On a fine Monday evening for absolutely no reason at all I felt absolutely crappy. Which really has nothing to do with the story except to show what was on my mind which was “Gee, I’m really messed up.”

On that same Monday evening, around 10:15 pm, I was in need of bacon for the Newspaper BLT party the following day. And so I ventured back into the world of the late night Wal-Mart scene.

Now, when I said that I thought the 11:30 pm crowd was weird I didn’t realize that it was simply what was left over from the 10:30 pm crowd.

Bacon was 2 16oz packages for $5 and I couldn’t decide if I needed two or not so I stood there in the cold foods department with one package of bacon in my left hand and another package of the exact same kind of bacon in my right and I stared at them for a good 5 minutes before I decided that I only needed one. I looked up to see that multiple 10:30 pm Wal-Mart goers had nothing better to do then to stand around and watch me decide. As if they thought it was easy or something.

Bacon in hand, I headed to the electronic department to pick my little brother up a T.V. cable for the T.V. he got for his 8th grade graduation. As I headed off a immensely tall guy rounds the corner at mach 2 nearly sending me and the bacon sprawling on the ground. Lucky he sidestepped-spinmoved me and avoided a collision.

While I was in the electronic department looking for cable alarm clocks kept going off. So, I figured that it was my responsibility to hit the snooze. Two late night Wal-Mart punks gave me a weird look when, with bacon in my left hand, I hit the snoozes of the clocks with my right hand.

Let me take this opportunity to remind all of our two readers that there are many who think that a nerf war is coming. Some have already tried to start one. The have been casualties on both sides. What I am about to tell the world is true. This is the time to be prepared for that war.

And so, with bacon and T.V. cable in hand I headed off to the nerf section to stock up on extra darts for the 6 shooter that I acquired the other day. As I rounded the corner I stumbled upon a small family shopping. The two little kids were running up and down the aisle and the younger parents were dry humping by their cart.

I quickly gathered my darts and proceeded to the check out and I thought about how I felt like I was messed up when I arrived at Wal-Mart and as I left I chuckled to myself and thought:

Thank God I’m not one of those freaks that goes to Wal-Mart late at night because then I would really be messed up.

More Quotes...sorry me lovey quotes

"In a full heart there is room for everything, in an empty heart there is room for nothing."
-Antonio Porchia

"There will always be those who condemn you for taking a risk or doing something that the world might say is in bad taste, but then again, the world probably thought that the three wise men were complete idiots for choosing to follow a star in the sky. If you never risk doing something in bad taste, you will have a very limited repertoire of experience and a very limited life." -Pastor William R. Grimbol

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep; and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to seek and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to keep silence and a time to speak; a time for war, and a time for peace. What gain has the worker from his toil? I have thought about this is connection with various kinds of work God has given people to do. God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end."

I love junior year

Summer is practiccally upon us my friends and the days are done, we are countin the hours til its summer. Waiting for the days where we either work 12 hour days or lay around and do absolutely nothing. Forget about the future, the past, the finals we bombed, the parents we pissed off, the clothes we stole from our sisters, the annoying dogs who chewed up our power cords, and the money we don't have. And we can just hang out with our friends, driving around wasting gas, trying to find something to do. These are the prime of our lives. And really, right now we either have nothing or everything. We supposedly have nothing to worry about when we're young, but have everything to live up to.

But who cares? Forget about philosophy, grades, stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid things. Its almost freakin summer

And heres a quote:

The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart. ~Elisabeth Foley

That ones dedicated to my senior friends. :) We may not always have each other in our lives, but we'll always have the memory of this year in our hearts.

Cheesy enough for ya?

I love junior year.

The 11:00pm world of Wal-nothing

I awoke this evening at 11:00 pm to find my homework unfinished and the eggs that was responsible for bringing to the breakfast we are making for the seniors in choir tomorrow unfetched.

There is virtually nowhere to go for eggs at 11:00 pm, nowhere except Wal-Mart.

You lose part of your soul when you got to Wal-Mart during the 11:00 pm hour. You can go after midnight and keep your soul intact and you can go before 11:00 pm. But should you going during the 11 ‘o clock hour then you find yourself with all the other lost bastards in a swirling world filled with so much nothing, and yet at the same time, so much something.

I shall tell you what I saw.

I saw a woman in business attire with a half-filled cart mumbling to herself as she wondered through the lost world of Wal-nothingness. I saw the lost night owls searching for their Vaults, their Monsters, and their Red Bulls (or Frapachinos for the more refined lost night owl). I saw Tim Sporsec. I saw a random lost woman who looked at me funny while I proudly marched through the nothing with 36 eggs. Yes, and I looked right back at her as if to say “I have 36 eggs and there’s not a thing you can do about it.” And she backed off. It felt good to march away with my eggs knowing I had been victorious over the demon of nothing.

I don’t know if I’ll ever be the same again.

Of All The Things I Believed In

As we get older, our ability to believe in something seems to flicker away while defending our belief system seems to become more important. Faith. For something that is so beautiful, it can bring out the ugliest in some people.

Most teenagers are hard headed and don't want to admit that someone else is right when they are dead set on just one particular answer. But that is just the thing, when it comes to faith there seems to be no just one answer. What if what we were brought up to believe is wrong? What if some traditions should be forgotten because they were started in a world completely opposite than the world we live in now?

If you are wondering where my place in religion is, its that I don't know. Brought up a Catholic, went to Religious Education classes and now I go to a Catholic school. The Catholic religion is great, however I have found myself turned off from it. I don't want to condem it, its just that its such a strong religion, how dare I call myself a Catholic when I don't go to church every week, don't believe in Reconciliation, basically, don't follow the rules? I don't think its fair, I think its fake. For me anyway. Also I think its crap when I see my classmates, people who I know do not follow the ways of the Catholic church, receive the Body of Christ at our school masses, when they aren't necessarily worthy of it. Everyone's worthy to recieve it, but according to the Catholic church, if you haven't gone to mass on Sunday or if you've sinned and not confessed those sins to a priest you shouldn't be receiving the eucharist. I may not like the rules of the church, but at least I respect them.

There are other things I disagree with greatly, such as marriage/divorce, suicide, hell, and women's role in the church, but I don't want to post them because, religion is always a touchy subject. And I know my theories are not right for everyone, maybe only for me, so I don't want to shove all my ideas down people's throats if it'll offend them. If you really want to know, you could ask me.

I am not a religious person, because I don't know if I believe in organized religion. I'm a spiritual person. I believe in faith, I believe in God, I believe in the good of people, and most importantly, I believe in following your heart. And I think that if you do what you want in your life, surround yourself with people you love, and believe in your dreams, you've found your heaven. And isn't that all we're looking for anyway?

Immodest proposal

In Jonathan Swift’s “A Modest Proposal” Swift suggests (or proposes) that there would be less poor people if the poor people ate their babies.

His logic was that by eating the babies the poor people would have less to worry about; they would have fewer mouths to feed and also more food to feed them with. Eating babies would also lower poverty because there would be less poor people. Less poor babies equals less poor adults.

I thought that we could apply the same type of logic to the Social Security problem. Once again a problem is being created by a large population of one type of people. I say to fix the Social Security system we should eat baby boomers.

Less baby boomers means less retirees draining the system. We could even set up restraints where we sell menu items like fried baby boomer, baby boomer pizza and baby boomer a flambé. We could take the profits from these restraints and put them into the Social Security trust fund.

This would probably solve problems with Medicare too.

Recognition (of the bitter reality of life and people moving on) Day

We’ve been denying it and denying it and denying it but we can deny it no longer: our seniors are leaving us. All of our two readers that are high school juniors and also share the same high school my web counterpart and I experienced, today, a cold slap in the face by reality commonly know as Recognition day.

This is the day when the graduating class is gathered together for one last school assembly to be recognized for their accomplishments.

This, in past years, has been the point when we realize that the seniors are leaving the school and are not planning to return.

Freshman year it was relatively painless; sophomore year it we were more aware and slightly sad; this year I was welling up. I can only imagine that it was bittersweet for the seniors, probably more sweet than bitter.

Luckily for me many of my closest friends are not going away for college, they are staying in the general vicinity. Others, plan to get the hell out; I don’t really blame them; that doesn’t mean they won’t be missed.

Mostly for the juniors I think, whether we had senior friends or not, it was the first time that we realized that from here on out there’s only us, there’s only this, forget regret because life is ours to miss.

But there is still time left.

Let us take a lesion from 19th century German philosopher/anti-Christ Friedrich Nietzsche who says “We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once. And we should call every truth false which was not accompanied by at least one laugh.”

Basically, I think he means that we should not waste our time with petty things and enjoy ourselves. Also, we should dance *ahem*.

My point is, let us not waste the time we have.

Warming the Bench

I am on a personal and spiritually quest to see good movies in theaters. I refuse to spend another 5 dollars on a movie that has not made my life more enriched with good quality cinema. Therefore, over spring break I saw the movie Benchwarmers.

I at first refused to see the movie, my quest did not include these kind of movies, I wanted to see Ice Age 2: the Meltdown. However, the people I were aquainted with had valid arguements as to why we should see this movie, and that was that they were driving and I wasn't (due to ankle being sprained...i.e. my life coming to a halt).

Thus, I went to the movie. If you are looking for a movie with execellent writing, amazing stunts, or attractive people, this is not the movie for you.

The movie is significantly similar to Dodgeball in a lot of ways, but its almost, if not just as funny as Dodgeball, and that is saying something. The guy who played Napoleon is in it, can't think of his name, providing doses of nerdy humor. David Spade provides his usual wit and Rob Schneider (I can't spell) is not a Hot Chick, an animal, or even a delivery guy, he's the main character and he's a person. A regular Joe with a past you unravel as you watch the movie. If you like titty twisters, nerds, migets, baseball, or drunkeness, this is the movie for you.

I give it a B-

Good movie, go see it if you want, otherwise I'd wait to rent it, because it is worth seeing..ish.

Morality, again...sorry

In morality class we watched the movie John Q. For those unfamiliar with the movie please enjoy the following abridged version.

The main character of the movie, John Quincy Archibald’s son has a terminal heart condition but they can save him if he gets a heart transplant. John doesn’t have the money for the transplant and his insurance company screwed him over. So John holds up a hospital with a gun and he does get a transplant for his son and his son lives. Roll credits.

After watching this movie we were supposed to write an essay on whether John’s actions were moral or not. According to the Catholic Church’s rules it isn’t. But according to my essay the Catholic Church’s rules can stick it.

The only rules are these: What a man can do and what a man can’t do.

Or at least according to Captain Jack Sparrow.

And let us not forget what my good old buddy Abe said a few posts back: When I do good I feel good, when I do bad I feel bad. That is my religion.

Since when is it that the Pope gets to think that just because he is infallible he can never be wrong. When the Church takes a stance on something, even something as basic and complex as morality, they give us a set definite way that they say things are. When what they should say is here is how it usually is but there actually is some grey gray area.

Nothing is so sure; nothing is so definite; there is always an exception to the rules. Kinda like how I’m the exception to the all smart people are nerds rules.

I guess what I’m trying to say here is that the only rule that has no exceptions is that there is an exception to every rule.

O yeah, and the Catholic Church can stick it.

Big, Fat lies we tell ourselves

I used to read magazines off the heezy. I just said heezy. Then I would read them, and realize that...I was reading the same articles over and over again. 276 ways to make your man love you! Ways to dress for your body type! Is he really that into you? Paris Hilton did something moronic, read page 134 for details! So I stopped reading them because....who needs to know this stuff anyway? Eat right, exercise, take a shower, get over him, tell him how you feel, and Paris Hilton's an idiot. Why I bothered reading how properly apply fake eyelashes, how the south beach diet doesn't work, and why the paparazzi are stalking celebrities over and over again in magazine after magazine is beyond me.

I don't read them so much anymore, but my mom bought one, so I thought what the Will&Grace, I'll read it.

And I stumbled upon this article that I really liked in the magazine Glamour.

Big, Fat lies we Tell ourselves

1). Everything would be great if I lost weight/quit my job/had a boyfriend.
No, everything would be just like it is now, except you'd weigh less, be unemployed, or have someone to watch reruns with--and theres a chance you'd be complaining about something new. Happiness and satisfaction come from within, and you're capable of appreciating the good things that are in your life right now.

2). Hard work speaks for itself, I don't need to ask for recognition.
This is the little lie that spares you the potential awkwardness of having to toot your own horn (which admittedly can be uncomfortable). But the fact is, unless you do the tooting, all you're likely to hear is silence.

3). He really loves me; he's just afraid to commit.
Why would you choose someone who won't choose you? If he's really afraid of love, then maybe you should be afraid of him.

4). They'll never know I lied.
Even if you don't get caught and life goes on, its not quite the same. funny how lying makes you think everyone else is too.

5). He cheated on her, but he wouldn't ever cheat on me.
And you believe him because he, they who lied to his last girlfriend about being faithful, promised you he'd be...faithful?

6). I just couldn't say no.
Actually, you could have, but its hard to say no when you know that not what the other person wants to hear. Figuring out your real reasons for not wanting to say it, maybe you're scared of disapproval or anger, for instance, could help work up the courage to tutter the dreaded (yet so liberating) little syllable.

7). Some people have all the luck (and I'm not one of them).
This one's a lie that undermines your power to control your destiny--and to claim the credit when good things do come your way. Because the more you believe in luck, the less you believe in yourself.

8). I can quit anytime.
The cigarettes, the boyfriend, the nonstop shopping. Telling yourself that you have a bad habit but that you could always drop it is crafty. By admitting that what you're hooked on isn't good for you, you think you're on top of things. If you're really on top if things, prove it. Quit.

9). If I looked like (insert celebrity name here) everything would be easy.
Do you really think a breezy, rejection free life is there waiting for someone just because she/he is gorgeous? Rich? Tall? Hello, Jude boinked the nanny! (Oh snap.)

10). Nobody appreciates my genius.
Maybe you are undiscovered Van Gogh. But if you're so talented, you should be able to find a way to share that brilliance with the world.

11). A little tan won't hurt.
What part of "wrinkles" and "cancer" don't you believe? Thinking you're immune from life's tough stuff is a sign that you don't value life's great stuff.

12). I don't need any help.
Denying that you need emotional support, someone to make you laugh, or just ride to the airport may feel like independence, but its often a lie that preotects you from revealing vulnerability. And nothing makes friends faster than vulnerability.

13). If I had time I'd write a book/exercise more/do better in school...etc...
You're busy, I'm busy, everybody's busy. Is lack of time a handy excuse for not doing the things you rreallly want to do but are deep down scared of failing at? Or maybe you can't admit you really don't want to do something anymore because you think letting go of an old goal is the same thing as failing. Just do it or don't do it.

Glamour Magazine, April 2006
p316-317

Well, I liked the article I don't know about you. Thought it was nice. I will update with some of my own writing soon. You just wait.

Just a quote

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. As we let our own light shine, we subconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Concerns From the Heart

On January 1, 1989, a new year began, and a new drama queen was born into the world (like we need another one). Me. At 9:34 a.m. I was unleashed. My family knew I was good looking from the start (sarcasm). An hour later, I was taken away because my heart started beating 100 times faster than a normal newborn heart. I had WPW, a condition where the heart starts beating abnormally fast at random times, because there was an extra passageway. In 8th grade I had surgery to get that removed, and once a year for the next six years I have to wear a heart monitor for one day to monitor my heart and make sure the condition is on the way to healthiness and the pain from the past won't reappear.

Today we had an assembly about suicide. It was depressing...to say the least. It brought back memories from my freshman year about suicide, not necessarily concerning me, but people very close to me. I started remincing about things I blocked out for the past year, and the feeling was overwhelming, it reminded me of my heart. Even though I had surgery and the condition is gone, every once in a while, my heart speeds up like its going to start to beat too fast, but then it stops. Theres no passageway anymore...so why does it start to beat like that? Theres no way the past can repeat itself, so why do we think of it? We need to monitor ourselves, every once in a while, so we can make sure that the past is really behind us, to make sure we're okay.

To think about issues with friends, and dealing with the past, I realized that maybe us people are all stronger than we give ourselves credit for. That we all have to go through things that are hard, but when we see the light, when we are on the 'other side', when we flip the coin and it finally lands on the winning side, where the grass is greener... everything we went through is almost worth it. Because, the sweeter side of life can't be sweet if we don't know what is sour. We can't really appreciate goodness in our life until we've went through the bad.

Its About Time

They say (and by 'they' I mean...I actually don't know what I mean. I suppose 'they' means the vast majority of people who have the same opinion, even though that opinion could be wrong. Then 'they' would be idiots.)

They say that almost everything is based on time. Its all about timing, but what I don't get is...why. Why does it all have to be the right time? Why is there a time limit on a relationship, for instance. You could go out with someone, but they let you know ahead of time that you will probably break up before that person goes to college, or moves away, or starts senior year. And if you want to get back together, they say its too late. Too late for what? Where are we going in our life that its too late? Our society is so obsessed with time, we're a slave for time. We try to cheat time with our quick fixes and our short cuts, but really we're time's bitch, if you will. Why put an expiration date on things like relationships...?

I almost wish that people would go with the flow, and let things play out the way they are supposed to. Because, face it, there is usually never perfect timing, just like there is no perfect person. Maybe there is no right time to let someone know what your thinking, or to try and repair a broken relationship. Maybe there is no Mr. Right, maybe theres only Mr. Right Now. And if you think about it, right now is the only thing we have that we can control. It might not be right, it might not be perfect, but its all we have.

For once maybe we should let the future worry us... when the time comes.

MySpace, YourSpace, HisSpace, HerSpace, and just give everybody their space

There is a new frontier in the world of the internet that needs some serious discussion. What some experts refer to as peer networking I like to call e-life.

What is e-life, you ask? Why thank you for asking and creating the perfect segue into what I’m talking about.

Take for example the hit e-life engine MySpace. You get a name, create an e-self, you get e-friends and you e-chill.

So I had this conversation with my mom someone. They wanted to know how they might find the MySpace (TheirSpace?) of their child someone else. At first I made it clear that I didn’t agree with that because parents people should not e-spy on their kids other people.

And this is a problem because parents and school people get on MySpace (I don't mean my space I just mean the website in general) and read our stuff and they take us e-seriously. It is many people’s opinion that they should e-steer their browser somewhere else and leave the e–cesspool to the e-cess.

But then I thought again. I mean why would you put something on the internet if you didn’t want your parents and administrators to read it. I mean I figured it was just assumed that what I write here is addressed directly to my parents and school administrators; they know it and I know it. And whose e-self is the same as their actual self that would just be...o wait, I feel some free form poetry coming on.

Death
Blood dripping
I cut
Razor the redeemer
Death cometh
Take me away
I’m quite sad.

Yes, yes, that’s good. I hope you’re getting all of this, school administration. Hold on, it needs a revision. And by revision I mean I need to grab my thesaurus.

Bereavement
Blood sodden
I incise
Razor the liberator
Death cometh
seize me away
I am somewhat agonizing.

e-Perfect.

No wait, don’t read it it’s my secret inside.

To Whom It May Concern: My mind is still here...ish

Hi, I'm a failure at life and anything that is important I can't do, anything that requires talent, I can't do, anything that is worth mentioning...I can't do. I suck at life, I should live on an island with Megan Parks because we had this discussion somewhere along the road of CAU talk one day!

I'm living in a world that does not exist, and I'm living each day like the next won't come, I don't take responsibility for some of my actions, and I knowingly hurt people unintentionally. Sometimes I act like the girls I never wanted to be, and sometimes I mess with people's mind, not out of spite, but because I can.

I have absolutely no idea what to post about, but I want to post about something, so I'm posting to say I'll post something worth reading soon...just not right now.

I'm not going on a hiatus, I'm thinking.

Even weirder.

Take a penny, leave a penny, lose a penny? you anti-American bastard

On the most recent episode of ABC’s Boston Legal, which you should all be watching, James Spader’s character Alan Shore says to an over zealous, overbearing, health freak, control freak boss guy “I see you at the salad bar. You always leave a penny, not take one. I admire that.” When I saw that I giggled, that Alan shore, he’s so clever, and witty, I love him. Anyways, the point is I didn’t think much of it except that it was genius writing as usual.

I didn’t think much of it, that is, until I stopped at the gas station to buy a Vault (it tastes like a soda but kicks like an energy drink). Basically, it’s slightly more flavorful then Mt. Dew and it costs $.89 as opposed to Mt. Dew’s $.99.

When I used to by Mt. Dew I would hand over a dollar and march right out. That’s right, I left that penny. I mean what kind of jerk takes one penny with them. But now that penny is accompanied by a dime and it seems much more worth while to take because I have to wait for the register person to take the dime out. So, why shouldn’t I take the penny as well?

It’s true, on occasion I’ve had to, as they say, take a penny. I’ll admit it; I’m not too proud. I mean I had fallen on hard times, I didn’t stop the gas pump right at $20.00 and it ran to $20.01. All I had was a Jefferson.

But, let us take a lesson from the man on the $100 bill.

Benjamin Franklin is often credited with the old maxim “a penny saved is a penny earned.” Could it be that if he were around today that Benny (we’re on a first name basis, you’re not, you can call him Mr. Founding Father) would be against the “take a penny, leave a penny” system?

Perhaps, but I’m sure he was too busy banging French whores to give a shit.

You Never Know

I have been wondering about the future. If I had a chance to see it, I'm not sure that I would want to. Things would be easier to understand, maybe what I'm doing right now is really going to pay off later. But what if what I'm doing right now has no value towards me in 10 years? That's what makes me wonder....as does Britney Spears. She also makes me wonder.

The thing that I really don't like to do is waste time. For some reason, I'm alllways short on time, and any second that I have wasted where I could be doing something that I love is crappy. It makes me think, I'm breaking my back working hard at things I despise, and if I know the slight direction I want to go in for my future, should I really stress out about things, or should I just screw it? If I will never need this in my years to come, is it worth doing right now?

College has been on the minds of some people, and I get asked where I want to go. Hell if I know. Why you have to plan your life in black and white at the age of 18 is beyond me. We can't drink yet, we just got the right to vote and smoke, somehow we're supposed to choose the school we want to go to, the classes we want to take, the majors we want to pick out, and maybe even a person we want to be with?

And whyyy are so many people just choosing the 'road' that is simple? College that gives the largest scholarship, place where my parents want me to go, why does it have to be right now? Right out of highschool, we've been locked in chains for the past 18 years by our parents and other authority figures, do you think we want to settle down and concentrate on more school...cuz I don't think I do. Sometimes I think that people in this small town don't set their standards high enough for their potential. I feel like a crazy person for not wanting to go down the right road and for wanting to get out of here and go out there. Where is there? I suppose I'd find it when I get there. Irresponsible, oh yes. Impractical, sounds like it to me. Does it help my future career....does it help my future?

Probably not. But I don't want the activites that I do in highschool stereotype me now, I hope I don't let my paycheck and my job define who I am later. For right now, its not about the future and hoping I'll get through college with honors and job offers, landing a 9-5iver, meeting the 'love' of my life, popping out a few kids, maybe getting divorced because who doesn't these days?...For right now, it should be about living the life I want to, and finding out what I want out of myself. Because, once you grow up...your grown up.

Maybe I'll crash and burn after highschool. Maybe the choice I'm going to make will be the stupidest thing I've ever done. But at least I tried, and I know that at some point in time, I was doing what I wanted to do and not what I should have done. If I do what I should do, I wouldn't be satisfied and I'd be "shoulding' all over myself." (Sex and the City)

Maybe it'll be bleek, maybe I'll be a bum on the streets, or a famous movie star, aspiring author, nutritionist, teacher, prostitute, stay at home mom, yoga instructor, hippie, choreographer, screen writer, manager at Runza. You never know....and thank God for that. Its not like I think I'm going to die tomorrow, I don't see it as living this day like its my last, I see it as living this day because its this day...because its my life.

Morality and how violent video games aren't not that

Let us take another lesson from ol’ Abe Lincoln. Abraham (we’re on a first name basis, you’re not. You can call him Mr. President) was quoted as saying “When I do good I feel good, when I do bad I feel bad, that is my religion,” or something like that. Now this seems to make sense. Someone with a untainted version of what we sometimes call conscience would be able to live by this rule. But who has one of those these days?

Morality instructor Mr. Jim Homan can be quoted as saying “But what if someone feels good doing bad things?”

Which leads me to my next point.

The past couple of weeks have brought with them a large amount of social and educational anxiety. But it’s ok, I mean I’m ok because I’ve found a healthy way to vent.

Shooting games.

That’s right, I’ve found that the best way to blow off steam is to blow off heads*. It really works. Is that wrong? Am I sick? According to honest Abe the answer to both is that I actually couldn’t be more right.

You can expect a Catholic morality teacher to tell you that Abraham’s philosophy is flawed but STFU they don’t call him HONEST Abe for nothing do they, which is why I’m going to violently play violent video games in which I violently destroy digital representations of humans for my own pleasure.

I’m not sick, I’m just Abraham Lincoln.

Adam

*no real heads were blown off in the making of this post. Any and all heads blown were the digital kind and therefore completly acceptable.

It is 3:00 in the morning.

Just an FYI. Since it is so late (for my standards it is reallly late) I really shouldn't be held accountable for the things that I say. I should stop right now but I am not ahaha that wasn't funny why did I type haha I do not know.

Anywho...

I would just like to forewarn all my adoring fans that what I am about to type is real girly. I mean, its probably going to sentimental and poignant. If you find that stuff nauseating stop reading right now. You will not like this post. I mean it, stop. I can get real mushy when I want to. Are you sure you still want to be reading?

It is about boys.

Where do I even begin?

Well, all we girls know that boys our age are well...not exactly at the same level we girls are. They want....oh I'll just say it...they want ass. For the most part. And they get all touchy feely (this really is an emotional not perverted post, I swear). Do you wanna know the WORST place they could touch you? Your heart. (CHEESY) How dare they! Do all these cutesy things like kiss your forehead, nuzzle the nose, even hold your hand. Preposterous. I hate that I love it.

So what is the whole point? Well when a guy is wooing a girl...how can the girl be sure that he really wants to be with her or just wants to get with her? When it comes to a teenage girls heart, should we be the risk-takers because we're young and things shouldn't be so serious, or should we be cautious because if we get burned now, we probably will be scared of falling for someone in the future. The future, when all this isn't just a game.

Stupid boys. Can't live with them, can't live without them.

Post-Valentine’s Day Existentialism

Well, I’m glad that’s over. I really am, I feel ten times better, no lies.

You know if you’ve ever been around history instructor Jacko Ilcisin one of his standard responses to the question “how was your day” is “Just another day in the march to May.”

Doesn’t life sometimes seem like that? Just another day in the march to …when I die. Which could be any day now, in theory. I mean if get swarmed by bees tomorrow and die then I guess that getting up early today for the test review doesn’t really matter does it? So I suppose the only resolve is to just make sure that you milk the happiness out of all the time between now and then.

Now Abe Lincoln was a pretty insightful man. Both he and his wife suffered from depression, he had kids that died, he failed a ton before making it into office and to top it all of the fucking United States decided to fight each other just because he believed in free soil (even if that wasn’t the real reason I’m sure he felt like it was).

The point is that old honest Abe said “People are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” And I think that is a good perspective. Of course, Abe was also shot in the back of the head without notice so I hope he was milking the happiness out of his time I guess is the point here, that’s all I wanted to say.

VD

I really fucking hate Valentine'’s Day. Probably partly because I'm a bitter single guy but mostly because it sucks and it'’s stupid. I've just got two things to say:

1) I think that I would feel better if I just popped all the balloons, any else feel that way. No. Just me? Ok. Fine.

2) Doesn'’t it stand to reason that all of us lonely people should get together if for not love then at least for companionship then maybe we'd all be a little happier.

That'’s all I wanted to say. Don'’t forget to read the more thought out post about VD below.

Adam

Cupid's Arrow

Time flies friends, I mean it. The last time I posted was like almost 2 weeks ago....maybe this means I'm getting a life! (Don't count on it hun). Its already...dare I say it...Valentine's Day.

Ah the consumer holiday that gives flowers shops everywhere higher paychecks. The random holiday that has no religious value. The holiday that puts people into two groups: the singles and the taken.

The singles are bitter and are negative about the holiday that mocks the fact that they don't have a significant other. The taken or chosen ones feel all special that they now have an official reason to show off their significant others.

Then there are other people who are too stoned to care about anything at the moment and don't even know that its Valentine's Day.

Those people are funny. Who needs candy or cards to show love when you have drugs?

Anywho, just wanted to say to all you people, single, taken, or stoned: Happy Valentine's Day. Show some love today.

The worm guy and humanity

Funny story actually, I was at the Omaha home and garden expo and I see this display for the “Magic Worm.” Here is a conversation between me and the guy:

Magic worm guy: “Hey do you want to see the magic worm?”

Me: “Yeah go ahead and try to sell me your crap.”

Worm guy: *Does a bunch of totally awesome tricks with the worm*

Me: Holy crap that’s awesome, how does it work.

Worm guy: *Points at a sign that says “top secret”*

Me: Fine, I accept that, give me six of them(because they were cheaper individually if you bought six then if you just bought one.)

Worm guy: (secretly) Sukka!

Me: O man this is going to be so cool. I can’t wait to get home and play with all six of them.

So yeah, I get home and I open up my six worms.

Let’s take a moment to recognize that I am a person that is progressively losing hope in humanity and desperately looking for magic in this world and I thought these worms really had it. I’ve thought things were magic before but this time I thought I really had it.

Well, it turns out the “magic” worm is on a fucking string. That’s how it works. You tie the string to your belt and you just have to get really good at making people not see the string.

I really thought I had it here. But let it be noted that this is just another punishing hit to my world views. That’s all I’m trying to say. I have less hope in humanity now that I know the secret of the magic worm. That’s all I’m trying to say.

A daily problem

I want to talk about a serious problem in my life: peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, more commonly known as the PBandJ.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge fan of PBandJs, especially the ones with the strawberry jelly. It'’s just that they are often, well, difficult.

When I first started making PBandJs I only put the peanut butter on one piece of bread. I know, I know, it was a rookie mistake. I soon found that with the peanut butter on only one side of the bread and with the sandwich sitting in my locker all day the jelly would soak through the bread, which is nasty.

So I came to the natural conclusion. I put the peanut butter on both pieces of bread. As you have probably already guessed the oils in the peanut butter covering the bread on both slices prevents the soakage that happens with the peanut butter on only one slice.

But if you think that this is the perfect arrangement but you'’d be wrong.

The peanut butter makes the inside of the sandwich slippery and sometimes if the sandwich is not level, that is parallel to the ground, in the sack then the jelly tends to slip out and get all over the plastic sandwich bag. Then we'’re back to square one with jelly in the bread all over again.
I guess what I really trying to say is that the PBandJ takes a lot of care and thought. It'’s a delicate sandwich.

That'’s all I wanted to say.

Suck on that

Fuck school.

Thats right, I said it. The F word. (Sorry Adam, if you wanted to keep this blog PG) I do not hate school, because, call me a nerd (Nerd) I like to learn. I feel all tingly inside when I grasp a concept then I can talk to my little sister about and feel like I am passing on a torch of knowledge. I'm not entirely sure that that sentence I just wrote is grammatically or politically correct. But here I am learning things that are irrelovent to my whole 'being'. I know, schools all important and shit, education is worth more than the moon or whatever, but I feel that if I have already made a conscious decision that I swear on my Great Aunt Betty's grave that I will never ever use this material in real life, don't you think I shouldn't have to put myself through the agonizing pain of learning it? WHY is it that to measure my intelligence I have to take tests over things I'll never use in real life? Thats not smart if you ask me! This is preparing us for college, not life. This is crushing our imagination, not inspiring it. This is sparking our anger and the reason why we will have to pay thousands of dollars to shrinks in the years to come! Revolt I say! Leave before you get sucked into the slippery slope of books, and thesis', and calculations!

Also, the ACT? ACrap. I have absolutely no room to talk about it at all, I have not taken it. I should probably stop right here, because I don't really have evidence to back up my claim but I won't. In all honesty, I'll probably get a good score on it (they say if you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything. I believe I will kick ass. good luck with that one), however I think taking that test does not measure how smart you are, it measures how much you can memorize shit, how you can priotize your time, and how good of a test taker you are. While all three things are smart people qualities, they don't qualify to take all the room for the definition of being smart. Albert Einstein was a supposed idiot or something, like he failed a grade I don't really know, plus he had really weird hair, but look at him! Shear genius. Another good example is my mom (oh, and mom if you read this, sorry for the saying the F word, and ya know I love ya mom! p.s. my mom will never read this) ya see my mom passed her, lets call it a-small-attention-span and sort-of-ditzy-qualites onto her children. But, she was just fooling everyone. Everyone thought she was just a ditz in highschool, and any of her highschool classmates are absolutely shocked to hear she is a doctor. But she is, and it didn't take a high score on her ACT to start her own health care practice or raise 4 psycho daughters.

What I am saying, which I think Adam has also said before me (I think, my memory sucks) is that grades and test scores are cool and you feel all proud inside once you see the good score, but guess what? There not everything. I doubt, that when you look back in highschool, that the things you want to remember is that bomb ass paper you wrote and you got an A. I'd rather remember anything but the grades I got. Even though I get good grades, even though I always do my homework, I absolutely DESPISE learning this suppressing stuff.

I feel a little bit better, now back to the english I was ignoring!

Unfair, unbalanced, and first,

Beth

Believe it or not

"I know it, but I don't know if I believe it."
Words spoken by an idiot. What the heck is that supposed to mean? But its all simple isn't it? There are somethings that we know, but if we stop and think about it, do we really believe it?
'
"When we get older, it gets harder to believe. Its not that we don't want to, but too much has happened, and we can't." -Now and Then
There is a million things thrown at us by people, trying to convince us one way or another. But what is right and what is wrong? When less then perfect situations arise, are we always using our better judgement by listening to our hearts? Or is that the worst voice to listen to? Should we be more practical and listen to our heads, even if its not our hearts desire...?
Course, nothing thats thrown at us at the ripe age of 17 matters all too much. We're still young, and we don't face many life-altering decisions just yet. But these little decisions is like a prep for the big ones....and I have to wonder....are we making the right choices?
Where I am going with this is anyones guess. But I am choosing to stop.........now.

The Chicken or The Egg?

Well, Adam has put up some bomb ass posts. Isn't he delightful ladies and gents? Theres a reason why I'm letting him share a blog with me. Hahhaaha. (I'll keep my day job)

I am tired, but I wanted to post something but I am tired, as I said. So I thought, why don't I repost what I posted before so it'll be like 'the best of' of my posts? Ya know? Not that any of my posts are actually all that great. I don't know, I'll just try it out. So here it is...the republication of the Chicken or the egg!

You know the age old question: Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Well with that same theme in my mind, I have to ask:

Which came first, the slut or the pervert?

We all know that mainly teenage girls wear about as much clothes out for a night on the town as many normal people wear to the beach. They show a lot of skin, and flaunt what they got. Obvious, they want the much needed attention from men. And lets face it boys, you adore it.

The ladies defend themselves saying, I like to look sexy. I'm comfortable with my body. This is my style, I like the way I look. But a girl who wears non sluttly clothes is probably just at comfortable with her body as the 'slut' is. But, is it really wrong that girls like to show off their physiques? Guys like the way they look, they like the way they look, whats the big deal?

Yet both men and women complain that they hate seeing people like Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera strutting around in barely-there outfits. They plead it disgusting, yet the guys are secretly undressing what may be left of their clothing in their heads, and the girls are wishing they looked that good.

And what is the deal with the guys saying they don't find the slutty girls sexy? Maybe they don't find it sexy, but it does turn them on and every guy knows it. Face it, would you look twice if a tan, blonde, big boobed chick walked by, or if a conservatively dressed woman walked by? Yeah.
Guys, its hard for some girls to get any attention when you respond so faithfully to the sluts over the non sluts. And girls, when you dress like that you make it hard for women to actually have some integrity.

Its a hard question, whos to blame?

The guys for responding to these showy off girls, or the girls giving them a reason to look?

Hey don't ask me, I'm just throwing it out there.

Think whatever you want.

Yes, I posted that almost a year ago, and I still agree with myself. Good. Welp, I think thats enough scandal for this website for a week. Maybe I'll write something new and worthwhile soon. Don't count on it, though.

Supreme Prom Court Hearing

One girl(her name will not be given for her sake) decided to ask me to vote for her in the prom court elections.
Yet, I cannot simply approve a candidate without knowing some things first, especially with something as important as porm prom.

The following is the transcript from that hearing. Some spelling has not been corrected to maintain the accuracy of what was stated.

***Start transcript***

Adam: can i ask you some questions
Prom Court Member Candidate(PCMC): suure
PCMC: go for it
Adam: what qualifies you to be on my prom court?
PCMC: hmm.. well... I really care about ym grades.. even if they dont always reflect it... umm i know what i want for college.... i plan on succeeding.. and i try to stay involved in school
Adam: ok
Adam: why do you want to be on my prom court
Adam: ?
PCMC: because... u know its like eveyr girls thing u know to want ot be on court.. u know actually be recognized.. i was really shy in grade scool.. nice ot be recognized.. and I feel that im a good role model
Adam: what do you think you will gain from it?
PCMC: i feel it would be a good experience in itself to spend time wiht people i wouldnt normallsy spend time with.. and to be recognized a lil more
Adam: recognized for what?
PCMC: like recognized in general ( like people know who i am) and also as a role model.. like u know well ur not a girl so i dunno but wheni was a frosh liek the court u know kinda looked up to them wish i could be par of that
PCMC: but u know
PCMC: like with the way i was.. like.. i alwasys viewd prom as a popularity contest
PCMC: and based off that
PCMC: i wouldnt get on...
PCMC: so just kinda want it
Adam: say if you agree or disagree with this statement then say why: Prom court is a superficial popularity contest that actually doesn't mean anything at all but used by the popular to make the equally as worthy but less accepted feel less accepted more.
PCMC: dont completely agree
PCMC: some truth behind it tho.. i do believe people vote by who they think should be on it.. whether they know them or not
PCMC: like homecoming i voterd JP on court i didnt really know him
PCMC: but like i feel the crowd all voted the same
PCMC: well some
Adam: i don't think you answered the question
PCMC: haha umm
PCMC: yes i think its popularity contest
PCMC: no> becaus ei think there is mroe meaning to it then popularity
Adam: what is the other meaning that you refer to?
PCMC: hmm just liek hah this gay... umm every like girls "dream" or whatever.. and gives a role model
Adam: ok, now explain the value you place on popularity
PCMC: on me being popular?
Adam: i ask the questions
PCMC: haha
PCMC: ok umm
PCMC: i dont personally care about being popular.. but idont wanna be a shy person no one know.. and i dont want to be like kdisliked or hated.. i enoy people liking me
Adam: you say that you consider yourself a good role model and yet you admittedly participate in illegal activity
PCMC: ... say wha?
Adam: how are these not conflicting statements
PCMC: umm i have drank underage i wont lie
PCMC: but ive never
PCMC: like
PCMC: benn durnk tipsy
PCMC: or even had a full glass
PCMC: ive maybe drank 4 times
PCMC: 3 of those with family
Adam: the law dosent differenciate
PCMC: for weddings
PCMC: and things
PCMC: 1 time had red wine with my cousin
PCMC: never even had a full glass
PCMC: so
PCMC: im just saying i wont deny that ive done it
Adam: and how does that fit in with you being a role model?
PCMC: umm i dont respect people who drink and get drunk and stuf.. i dont do drugs... and i only drink ( excluding 1 time) with family permission
PCMC: i dont have sex
PCMC: i focus on school
PCMC: i dont let everything material takeover... idunno i have life goals
PCMC: that i plan to reach an succeed
Adam: you say that you don't focus on material and yet you seem to really want to be on prom court, explain this
P: i want tobe on prom court, to be better recognized.. and have a special memory, and maybe be a role model to like people not that popular such as myself
Adam: I think the fact that you drink would have been the best qualifying criteria for appointing you to the supreme prom court but you say it was only four times and only with family(still illegal in most cases)
PCMC: u want me 2 drink
PCMC: ...
Adam: let the record show that 2 min. Elapsed with out a response from the candidate

The candidate then signed off just when I was about to ask for her closing statements.

Personally I feel she did poorly.

Crappy Music Generator Generates Crap Generator, Needs Cloths

Former No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani is pregnant with her first child. Reportedly, her baby’s daddy is Gavin Rossadale from the rock band Bush.

The story goes that when Stefani went to look for clothes for her pending baby she couldn’t find any with the proper amount of cleavage or that went well with her fetus’s pink hair. So, giving up on shopping she decided that she would make her own baby clothes, and by that she means that she felt like having someone else design and make the cloths for her baby and millions of other aspiring street corner walker babies all over the nation.

Stefani’s baby line will be the hot item at this year’s baby showers so I figured that I’d warn you.

The Crisis

Today being the 18th day of January, in the year of our Lord 2006 a great dilemma hath descended upon me. I have an orthodontist appointment today. Now, orthodontists, being the spawn of the anti-Christ sent from the fiery depths of the inferno to smite people who have teeth that would probably have gotten along fine with out them, have a disposition of creating problems. My orthodontist gives each patient a t-shirt baring his logo when puts their braces on. If you wear this t-shirt to your appointments he will give you a grand total sum of $1. Now, if you happen to have been a good brusher since your last visit, which I have, and have chewed your proper amount of tin foil then he promises to give you an additional free $1. I have never worn the t-shirt. I am what you would call too cool, or above such nonsense.

But times have changed.

The last time my boss called me to work was before Christmas and one really awesome guy is short on cash (hint: not Donald Trump). I am still way too cool for the loud red shirt that displays the mark of the Beast. Yet every man has his price and mine seems to have fallen to $2.

I feel like such a whore.

Politics as Usual

Before I start talking about anything political on this weblog I want to say some things about disagreeing with me. I think it is highly important that people have opposite opinions. Personally, I think dissent is central to any political discussion or to any discussion. Disagreement makes people rethink what I say and more importantly it makes me rethink what I say.

Everyone has their own beliefs and those beliefs are usually based on two things: upbringing and personal experience. I tend to think that upbringing is more effective mostly because opinions and values that you are brought up with can affect the way that you view your personal experiences. It'’s great for me to hear other sides of an issue because maybe they bring up a point that I haven'’t thought of yet. I would like to say that I can always see both sides of an issue and I should try to acknowledge both.

I just want to make sure that when you post comments, regardless of your opinion, you'’ve thought your feelings through and know why you believe what you believe, so that I'’m not just getting a bunch of party line following people idiots. Because that sucks.
